Shear clamps running fore and aft inside both sides of the hull

Construction of the deck framing, centerboard trunk and centerboard is under way.

The shear clamps, long boards running fore and aft along both sides of the interior of the hull, support deck beams. Deck beams are the boards that run across the boat, or athwart ship, and support the deck. All of the deck framing is constructed out of long leaf pine. The deck will be built out of marine grade plywood.

The centerboard trunk has to be built before the deck framing can be completed. It, too, is made from long leaf pine.

The centerboard will be built out of 4 sheets of marine grade plywood laminated together with epoxy resin. Two-hundred pounds of lead shot will provide the ballast.
