Chapel on the Dunes Tours

First and third Saturday of each month.

The Chapel on the Dunes was built between 1937 and 1938 by Aline B. Carter, who was called the “White Angel” because of her flowing, white organdy dresses and loving service to the community.

Weddings

Visit the Chapel on the Dunes page at Starkey Properties to inquire about weddings in the Chapel.

Tours

Join us every first and third Saturday for a tour of this wonderful Port Aransas treasure. Tours last 30–40 minutes.

NOTE: Please reserve your spot by the day before the tour.  Tours fill up quickly and it is a very small chapel.

9:15 a.m. — Meet at the museum for a short (8 min.) video of interviews with Frank Carter, Aline Carter’s son, and John Cobb, the artist who painted the murals inside the Chapel.

We will then caravan to the Chapel, where Museum docents will explain some of the frescos, tell stories about Aline Carter and and share stories about some interesting past events at the chapel.

You may stay to take photographs afterwards.

Between Tours

The chapel is locked between tours, however, you may walk up to the Chapel and view its exterior at any time.
