Privacy Policy
The Port Aransas Preservation and Historical Association provides a Privacy Policy to inform its website users how we collect, store, and use personal information submitted on the site.
1. Collection and Use of Information
Certain places on the PAPHA website may require users to register or to provide personal information in order to make an ecommerce transaction, sign up for membership, or to subscribe to our email newsletter(s). Such personal information is not sold to third parties. To better understand the needs of our website users, we may also request demographic information. Entering such information is optional and if you choose not to enter such information, you can successfully use these applications.
PAPHA protects any information that you share with us for transactions. If you make a purchase on the PAPHA website, we will use your credit card number only to process your payment and will not use it for marketing purposes. For reasons of security, credit card information is not stored on our web server, and sensitive information is processed using secure technology. We will retain order information for our records and this information is never sold to third parties.
2. Mailing Lists
The purpose of our email list is to keep you updated on exhibits, events, and special offers. This is an opt-in service where our customers have full control over their subscription. The information you provide us will be kept confidential, and PAPHA will not sell or share your email address. You may modify or cancel your subscription at any time. If you provide your email address, PAPHA may periodically contact you with special offers and updated information.
Any emails sent to you by PAPHA includes a link in the footer of the email where you can opt out. If you wish to be removed from the mailing list, you may also do so by contacting PAPHA directly, or send an email to director@portamuseum.org.
3. Usage Tracking
PAPHA does track usage patterns on our website and breaks down overall usage statistics according to a user’s domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user’s browser). However, we do not match this information with users’ personally identifiable information.
4. Cookies
A cookie is a small data file that a website transfers to a user’s hard drive when a user visits the website. A cookie file can contain information such as a user ID that the site uses to track the pages visited. The only personal information a cookie can contain is that which a user supplies. A cookie can’t read data off a hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. PAPHA does not use cookies to store any personal information about a user.
5. External Websites
Our website contains links to other websites. Please be aware that PAPHA is not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by portaransasmuseum.org.
