Old Fishing Tackle of Corpus Christi

Presented by Dr. David McKee

Over the years David McKee has put together quite a collection of saltwater fishing lures and will have several cases of lures to help illustrate his talk.  He grew up in Sinton, Texas, spent his youth fishing for tarpon in Port Aransas, and has had a fishing cabin at Baffin Bay for 40 years.

David McKee judged the Port Aransas Deepsea Roundup for 40 years, worked on gulf shrimp boats from Mexico to Louisiana in the 1960s, and retired as Professor Emeritus of Biology and Mariculture from Texas A&M/Corpus Christi.  He’s published three books and a fish key that’s widely used to identify gulf fishes.

The Port Aransas Preservation & Historical Association has a great line up for the 2019 Winter Lecture Series. The talks are free to the public and held at the Port Aransas Museum and Community Center.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a cheese and wine reception in the museum, and the public is encouraged to browse the Museum and shop in the Gift Shop. At 7 p.m. everyone moves across the walkway to the Community Center for the lecture.
