Would you and your family, or a group of friends, like to build a boat with expert supervision?  If so, sign up now for the Family Boatbuilding event taking place during our annual Port Aransas Wooden Boat Festival.

You’ll be building a 13-ft shallow draft skiff, a compact version of the popular Port Aransas Skiff, capable of handling up to a 7.5-HP outboard motor.  Your boat will be built out of marine plywood and other marine grade materials.

We’ll start the class with a pile of parts at 9 a.m. Friday in a tent at Roberts Point Park and finish Sunday afternoon with a maiden voyage in the harbor.

Paint your boat when you get home, then put her in the water and go fishing, bird-watching or cruising.  It’s small and light enough, weighing about 100 pounds, to be carried in the back of a pickup truck or on the top of your car.

You also have the option of coming back to the Farley Boat Works shop at a later date and we’ll help you add a splash rail and fiberglass the bottom of your boat prior to painting, like in the photo of the finished one built at last year’s festival.  The fee for this is an extra $200; arrangements can be made at the festival.
