Little Chapel on the Hill

The little chapel on the hill sits on the highest spot in old town at a dizzying 26’ above the sea.  It was conceived by and built for the sitting Poet Laureate of Texas, Aline Carter, in the 1930s.

Pepper Pendzinski built the idea of museum-led Chapel Tours into a great reality.  They are given the first and third weekend of each month, Friday and Saturday, at 10 a.m. They are fun, informative, and quite popular and are always booked well in advance. Call or visit the Museum for reservations, 361-749-3800.

A newly produced video of the chapel history and an interview with the man who painted the ceiling is now available at the museum.  Come by and watch it.

The little chapel is truly one of the wonders of Port Aransas. Don’t miss the chance to visit it with Pepper.
