“Wind in My Sails” by Rusty Jones

Posted by on January 23rd, 2012 with 0 Comments

Wind in My Sails, a 9″ x 12″ oil painting by Rusty Jones, beautifully captures the exhilaration a sailor feels when their little craft takes off with a bone in her teeth.  Rusty loves Port Aransas and spends as much time here as possible both painting and fishing.  He produces some of the most beautiful renditions of our natural and cultural community, and has a long history of sharing his talents to support our great museum.

Rusty Jones (rustyjonesstudio.com) focuses his artistic skills painting the Western American landscape.  Following in the tradition of John Singer Sargent, Julian Onderdonk, Portofino Salinas, Edgar Payne and many other great American painters Rusty travels throughout the country painting the landscapes before him.  “Painting outdoors takes passion. Without it the wind, heat, snow and bugs will drive you indoors.  I enjoy my time in the studio, but it doesn’t make my heart race like it does when I am outside.”
